About Exness — the Company Behind a Currency Quote · Nigeria
Every price on a chart is quoted by somebody. This page sets out what kind of company does that here: how long it has been operating, what it lists besides currency pairs, which platforms carry the quote and how the pricing model changes between account types.
Open Exness Account →Exness is a broker that has operated since 2008 and lists more than 100 instruments — currency pairs, metals, cryptocurrencies, energies, stocks and indices — all traded as contracts for difference on MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, the Exness Terminal and the Exness Trade app. For a trader whose interest is a single currency pair, only two of those company facts change an actual order: the platform it is placed on, and the account type, because the account type decides whether the cost of the position sits inside the spread or is split into a raw spread plus a commission.
Company facts, and where each one reaches a trade
- Exness has operated as a broker since 2008, long enough for the platform line-up to span MT4, MT5, a browser terminal and a mobile app.
- Everything listed is traded as a contract for difference, so a currency pair position settles in the account currency instead of delivering currency.
- Currency pairs sit alongside metals, cryptocurrencies, energies, stocks and indices — more than 100 instruments in total.
- Five account types resolve into two pricing models: the cost inside the spread, or a raw spread plus a commission per side.
- The account currency is fixed when the account is opened, and every instrument is then valued against it.
- The website and the client area are published in a number of languages.
Company fact and where it lands in a trade
| Company fact | Detail | Where it reaches a currency trade |
|---|---|---|
| Operating since | 2008 | A platform line-up wide enough to cover desktop, browser and phone |
| What is traded | CFDs | The pair settles in the account currency; no currency changes hands |
| Instrument range | 100+ across forex, metals, crypto, energies, stocks, indices | A pair can be read against whatever else is moving that day |
| Platforms | MT4, MT5, Exness Terminal, Exness Trade app | The same position is opened and managed from any of them |
| Pricing models | Spread-only, or raw spread plus commission per side | Decides whether the cost of a pair is one number or two |
| Account currency | Chosen at sign-up, fixed afterwards | Every pip value is converted into that currency |
What a broker actually does in a currency trade
A retail currency position is not an exchange of banknotes. The trader and the broker enter a contract whose value tracks the price of a pair, and the difference is settled in the account currency when the position closes. That is what makes it possible to sell EUR/USD without owning euros, and it is also why size is expressed in contract units rather than in cash.
Because it is a contract, most of what surrounds it is defined by the account rather than by the market: which instruments are listed, what the smallest position is, how much margin is set aside and what happens at rollover. Two people looking at the same EUR/USD chart on different account types are not looking at the same trade.
The pages that deal with those account-level differences are account types, fees and charges and what can be traded.
Two ways the cost of a pair is charged
There are only two shapes. In the first the whole cost is inside the quote: the spread is a little wider and nothing else is deducted. Standard, Standard Cent and Pro accounts work this way, and the appeal is that one number covers everything.
In the second the quote is passed through closer to raw and a commission is charged per side of the trade. Raw Spread and Zero accounts work this way. On a pair with a naturally tight spread the second shape can come out smaller in total; on a thinly traded one it often does not.
Neither shape wins everywhere — it depends on the pair, the size and how often positions are opened. The arithmetic for a specific case is on the trading calculator, and the measured side of it on trading costs.
What this page is not
This site is an independent partner site, not the broker. Nothing here opens, holds or settles an account: that relationship is with Exness, and the terms that apply are the ones published in the client area at the time of trading.
Figures repeated across these pages — spreads, commissions, minimum deposits — describe published conditions and can change. Where a number matters to a decision, the version shown in the Personal Area is the one that counts.
The two pricing models side by side
| Item | Cost inside the spread | Raw spread plus commission |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts | Standard, Standard Cent, Pro | Raw Spread, Zero |
| Spread from | from 0.3 pips, and from 0.1 pips on Pro | from 0.0 pips |
| Commission | $0 | up to $3.50 per side per lot on Raw Spread; from $0.20 per side on Zero |
| Minimum deposit | No minimum initial deposit on Standard and Standard Cent; $200 minimum deposit on Pro | $200 minimum deposit |
| Cost is read as | One number, inside the quote | Two numbers, added together |
Minimum deposit applicable; may vary based on payment method or geographic location.
